Stampede in Cambodian Festival Kills 300 People

Another tragic accident just happened when an estimated number of 300 people were killed and hundreds more were seriuosly injured in a stampede at the celebration of annual water festival in Cambodia. The stampede occurred last November 22nd of Monday night when the people started to panick. Hundreds of people tried to escape over a short suspension bridge.

When the chaos has finally over, the dead bodies and injured were seen lying on the scene. The rescuers and volunteers help the injured and dead bodies were taken away from the scene, while searchers looked for the bodies of anyone who might have drowned. Cambodians went to look for their missing relatives at Preah Kossamak Hospital located in Phnom Penh. The morning after the stampede, a crowd gathered at the hospital to look for their dead, where corpses were gathered.

Survivors of the stampede just received assistance given by Phnom Penh government. Many of the injured seemed to be seriously hurt, with some ecpectations that death toll could still rise.

Cambodian police officials took a thorough examination and investigation on the bridge where the stampede occurred. Prime Minister Hun Sen called the episode the country's biggest tragedy since the regime of the Khmer Rouge.
